When you have qualified in your chosen course whether that be done face to face or online you must get insurance. You can gain insurance from several brokers but please always double check your course qualifies before purchasing.
Public Liability Insurance:
Public Liability Insurance is essential to ensure you are covered against any accidents that happen on the job. This could be any sort of damage that is caused whilst performing your job. For example, if a customer were to trip over your equipment or (if you are a mobile therapist) this insurance would protect you from any accidental damage you could cause bringing your supplies in and out of a client’s home. This will cover legal fees and compensation fees if a case is one against you and can also cover your employees. Please note, if you do employ anyone, you will also need employer’s liability insurance as a legal requirement.
Product Liability Insurance:
This type of insurance will ensure that you are covered from any harm caused by products that you use during your treatments or sell to clients as part of their aftercare. For example, if you were to sell a client an eyelash cleanser which they had a reaction to (whether it was made by you or not), they could try to claim compensation.
Public Liability Insurance would cover any legal fees and compensation should the client win the case. Please note, just because you have Product Liability DOES NOT mean you have Public Liability insurance, but they may be sold together.
Professional Treatment Liability Insurance:
Professional Treatment Liability is designed for beauty or holistic therapists to ensure they are covered against any claims of malpractice by any clients. If one of your clients feels that your treatment has harmed them physically or mentally, they are may be entitled to make a claim
This insurance will cover any legal fees or compensation you may have to pay if the claim against you is successful.
